Prof. Dr. Reinhard Meier

Co-Founder & Managing Partner Reinhard loves supporting European health tech founders on their way to becoming global technology leaders. He has evolved from a practicing physician to a tech entrepreneur and investor: He co-founded telemedicine platform TeleClinic.com, which was sold to a public company in 2020. He has also supported the health tech startup ecosystem with various investment from his family office. Before that, he worked as professor of radiology and director at a large hospital group after studying medicine and business administration in Munich, Nice/France and San Francisco/USA.

Markus Feuerecker 

Co-Founder & Managing Partner Markus Feuerecker has been passionate about scaling healthcare companies throughout his career. As a trained VC, growth & buy-out private equity investor, before co-founding YZR Capital, he held roles such as Vice President at DPE Deutsche Private Equity and Senior Investment Manager at EMERAM Capital Partners. Markus studied business administration in Regensburg and Hong Kong and gained experience working for leading banks and consulting firms before starting his investor career.

Christina Schmidt

Investment Manager Christina has been part of the VC and startup industry for more than five years. Previously, she gained extensive experience in the VC space by working with B2B software companies at ALSTIN Capital, where she developed a great passion for startups in the health tech sector and by analyzing deep tech companies at Vito Ventures. In addition, as a key member of the business development team at Holidu, Christina acquired B2B sales knowledge in an early-stage startup. Christina has studied Business Administration in Ingolstadt and Cincinnati and International Management in Lisbon and St. Gallen.

Paul Epple

Investment Manager Paul has studied Finance and Information Management in Munich and Seoul. Previously, he worked at GCA Altium, TVM Capital Life Sciences and gained experience at leading consulting firms. Throughout his studies and previous experiences, he engaged in various healthcare opportunities and transactions becoming a health tech enthusiast.

Dr. med. Michael Bitzer

Entrepreneur and investor / Experienced insurance CEO and board member

From 2006 until July 2019 Dr Michael Bitzer was the CEO of Daman, the National Health Insurance Company, a JV between the government of Abu Dhabi and Munich Re. During his time with Daman, he also held the role of CEO of Munich Health Daman Holding, was a board member of Saudi Enaya and Daman Qatar and was a member of the ERGO International Management Committee. Prior to joining Daman, he held a number of senior positions for Munich Re in the Middle East and Germany, including the responsibility for Munich Re’s health reinsurance and primary health insurance business in the Middle East and Africa.

Michael studied medicine and business administration in Germany. He worked in German army hospitals, clinics and held various general staff functions within the army for 16 years. Following his time in the army, he also spent a couple of years in the pharmaceutical industry and consulting.

Elmar H. Willebrand

Elmar Willebrand, from profession Lawyer, joined in October 1993 Asklepios Clinics as head of investments, financing and acquisitions before becoming Group CEO in 1998. During 15 years of his tenure, Asklepios grew from formerly 18 facilities with €300 million in sales to over 100 facilities with €2.4 billion in sales and 35,000 employees. Amongst over 90 clinic acquisitions he was in charge with the LBK-Hamburg transaction, with €750 million the largest European hospital acquisition at that time. In 2008 he founded the AccuMeda Group, which is active in clinic acquisition, turn-around management, consulting and related investments. He served as chairman and member of various supervisory boards. His opinion is quoted in leading newspapers.

Prof. Dr. Prof. h.c. Andreas Dengel

Andreas Dengel is Executive Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) Kaiserslautern and head of the research area Smart Data & Knowledge Services as well as the DFKI Deep Learning Competence Center. His research focuses on machine learning, pattern recognition, quantified learning, data mining, semantic technologies and document analysis. Previously, he worked at IBM, Siemens, and Xerox PARC in Palo Alto. Besides having published 14 books and more than 500 scientific publications, he is the founder of several startups and distinguished honorary professor at Osaka Prefecture University.

He studied computer science and business administration at TU Kaiserslautern.

Urs Keller

Urs is a serial investor and entrepreneur with deep expertise in the field of digital platforms. He was active in companies such as billiger.de, web.de, planetsports, lokalisten.de, quandoo, stylight, Quantumrock Capital and more. Previously, he studied at Karlsruher Institut of Technology (KIT).

Holger Ebersberger:

Holger has studied law at the Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen – Nürnberg, the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the University of Durham. He is a partner at McDermott Will & Emery specialising in M&A and private equity transactions. Holger has particular expertise in the digital business, TMT, life sciences & healthcare and industrials & manufacturing sectors.

Dr. Martina Samwer

Martina is an entrepreneur in the health care sector and has founded 21Dx GmbH and 22 Ventures GmbH. Before she worked for +10 years as a healthcare manager at Schön Clinics and had started her career at Bain & Company. She has a background in economics and achieved a PhD in law & economics from the University of Hamburg and Columbia/ New York.

 

Vlad Lata

Vlad studied Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in Munich besides receiving an honors degree at CDTM and being a visiting researcher at Berkeley. He was Co-founder of Konux, a leading German AI/IoT company for industrial IoT solutions. Currently, he is the Founder & CEO of Avi Medical running patient-centric, tech-enabled medical practices.
